Five years have passed since the Parkinson’s Foundation organized the first San Francisco Moving Day. Each year, the annual walk-run event is different, yet familiar, attracting newcomers as well as the regular Parkinson’s community.

For the fifth anniversary today, I proudly joined Rick Posner’s team. Posner is a member of the PWR!Moves class on Tuesdays at 11am at the Harvey Milk Recreation Center, 50 Scott Street in SF. Posner’s Moving Day team included his partner Devin Navarro, and members of the class, with their superb instructor Jennifer Broder Allex.

Posner raised over $3200 for the Parkinson’s Foundation!

Moving Day is more than just a walk. It raises awareness, and funds to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease as we advance toward a cure. Posner’s contribution, and the donations of individuals such as $4450 raised by Peter Hassen, $3145 raised by Greg Polchow, $2896 raised by Alicia Benvenuto-CBSI Team, $2535 raised by Marcia Borger, and thousands of dollars from others help the Parkinson’s Foundation with programming for the Parkinson’s community.

A bubble master captivated the audience, young, and old!

Exercise warmed up the crowd before the walk.

Movement Disorder Specialists Dr. Salima Brillman (concierge neurologist)  and Dr. Rima Ash (Kaiser Permanente Redwood City) discussed treatment at the information booths.

Steven Russell, Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach Program learned about Sagebrook Senior Living at San Francisco.

The San Francisco views, and the ever-changing cityscape on the walk were amazing, and the participants were fun!yoga poses_4887
