JUNE 2013 | As a stick-walker, I have a tale to tell. I walk aided by my sticks every evening in Atheron. So today at work, a colleague asks if I live on Stockridge, because he spotted me walking with my sticks there. “No,” I replied. “It is my stick-walking route.” That lead to me explain why the sticks. The upshot is that my colleague was looking to purchase a pair of those sticks for his wife, who has just had a stroke. He is hoping that they will help her feel better. The point is, your PD doesn’t mean that your contribution in life is hampered. Quite the contrary. Stand up straight and walk boldly, because you never know when your gait will cause someone to take pause and be encouraged and inspired, just by you being you.
